Evidence of these older orogenies varies but consists of at least three main types. First, there are the ancient rocks that were created during an orogeny. An example of this is the Idaho Springs formation found throughout the central area of the Front Range. The second type of evidence is acquired by looking at the debris left behind as mountains were eroded.
